The development of the Follow-On Generation of trucks for the Geman Bundeswehr was a unique event. It was only possible in the Cold War period with its outstanding demands. A lot of momey and workforce was invested in the project.The ingenuity of a whole generation of german truck designers was employed and stretched to its limits. The final result was a generation of trucks that would be ahead of its time and serve as the foundation on which future army trucks would be built.
The publication describes the complete development process and the technical details of the trucks in unprecedented detail. It then continues with the series-production vehicles, 5-tonne, 7-tonne and 10-tonne and their variants with many hitherto unpublished photographs supported by graphics and scale drawings. A special chapter is devoted to the MSA add-on armour system.
